A fully guided tour through the geothermal wonderland of erupting geysers, boiling hot pools, bubbling mud, Maori wood carvings and a cultural show with song and dance including the world famous Haka a performance not to be missed.
We take a leisurely drive around the highlights of Rotorua, taking in lake front, Redwood forest, Rotorua Tudor style design museum, Blue baths, Rachael Springs and the Government Gardens.
To finish your tour we visit a kiwi fruit orchards, learn the history and experience this wonder fruit with taste testing of the different varieties, jams, juices and much more.
We start our journey at the Port of Tauranga, where we will meet you at the offical port gates, then take you on a sightseeing drive around the beautiful area of Mount Maunganui where your ship has docked. Take in the sights of the bustling coffee shops, small designer boutique & white sandy beaches. Leaving the coast we head into the countryside. We journey through lush countryside traveling by stunning lakes, deep forestry and the first hints of the geothermal area we are traveling too.
In Rotorua, you will be greeted by a local Maori guide a descendant of early Maori guides who have shaped tourism in New Zealand for generations. They will take you on a tour to experience an authentic village, the only place in the world where people live daily using the natural geothermal resources to cook, bathe and heat their homes. They will guide you around a strange and unforgiving landscape and journey where history, culture, and nature collide; where local Maori’s showcase their vibrant Maori culture in a performance of dance and song - a show not to be missed! Even the architecture tells a story with Maori carvings and structures that hold deep cultural significance's. You will see large mud pools, steam vents, boiling pools and geysers including the largest in the southern hemisphere. Learn how the residents utilize and respect the ever-changing forces beneath their land.
After leaving the village, we take a leisurely drive through Rotorua main highlights to see what this beautiful town has to offer. The lake front with its many black swans, The grand Tudor-style Museum, colourful and fragrant rose garden, Rachel's spring and the blue baths. Then stop at the Redwood forest to experience the giants and the peaceful atmosphere they create. Learn about the silver fern and its relevance as the symbol of New Zealand.
After leaving Rotorua, we will head to Te Puke - a suburb of Tauranga - where you will have the opportunity to visit a working kiwi fruit orchard. Learn how this wondrous fruit became established here in New Zealand which, surprisingly, it's not a native plant but an interesting story explains all. You will have the opportunity to taste-test different varieties of this fruit plus jams, juices, and much more.
This tour is a stunning opportunity for photographs and an introduction into a new culture.
From there we head back to the port and where we wish you bon voyage and safe travel!
